IS 42 REALLY THE ANSWER TO LIFE, THE UNIVERSE AND EVERYTHING?
Over the last eight weeks, Melissa has been studying amateur astronomy at the Sydney Observatory. And more recently, she somehow talked me into heading out under the cover of darkness in an attempt to capture the many billions of twinkle, twinkles in the sky.
So, I thought I’d share some of the things that we learnt on these sleepless night adventures:
1. It is much easier to walk on rocks around the ocean when the sun is up.
2. There are Heaps. Of. Stars. And they are not at all like a diamond in the sky.
3. We prefer Sydney beaches when everyone is sleeping. No crowds and plenty of parking.
4. Experimenting with different telescopic and photographic techniques is actually quite difficult, but the end-result is totally worth it!
Oh, and we’re still not sure if 42 is the answer to everything, but it is around the number of coffees we’ve had to keep up with these early morning star gazing adventures.
